Approaches to the SDGs
Home > Sustainability > Approaches to the SDGs
The recent years have been marked by frequent abnormal weather phenomena and natural disasters. This has set the stage for the United Nation’s adoption of the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as well as accelerating international efforts to combat climate change and shift toward a decarbonized society.
Taking advantage of our expertise in the environmental field―a company attribute in which we take great pride―we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
Promoting the SDGs
We began taking action to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our operations in FY2017.
We took a close look at the relationship between our operations and the SDGs in FY2017 and FY2018, and in FY2019 we set goals relating to the SDGs based on the results.
We began development measures to achieve those goals in FY2020, and in FY2021, we plan to study them by incorporating them into our medium-term business plan. In this way, we will be taking still further steps to promote the SDGs.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were put forth at a United Nations Summit in 2015.
The SDGs consist of 17 goals and 169 targets to be accomplished by 2030.
Their aim is for all nations to address various problems―including those affecting the environment, economy, and society―through mutual cooperation among governments, private enterprises, and local communities to achieve a sustainable world in which “no one is left behind.”

Registration with the “SDGs for Regional Revitalization Public-Private Partnership Platform”

In August 2020, we registered with the “SDGs for Regional Revitalization Public-Private Partnership Platform,” an initiative of the Cabinet Office that was established to promote the implementation of SDGs-related activities in Japan and tie them to greater regional revitalization.
